The U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association & Foundation support the Naval Academy and its mission through engagement and philanthropy. USNA AA&F achieved a 143% return on investment in five years after implementing Blackbaud CRM, which provides them a new depth and richness of data. 

With a primary focus on engagement, the Alumni Association promotes informed advocacy for today’s Naval Academy and Brigade of Midshipmen among its many constituents—alumni, parents and friends. The Association, governed by the Board of Trustees, keeps its more than 60,000 members informed through a network of 101 chapters around the world, about 76 active class organizations, and 80 parent clubs.

Prior to deploying Blackbaud CRM®, USNA AA&F had a legacy fundraising management system that lacked the flexibility to fit their unique needs and was approaching end-of-life. To address these challenges, the organization selected Blackbaud CRM to improve constituent engagement and fundraising outcomes.

USNA AA&F partnered with Blackbaud to examine the return on investment (ROI) USNA AA&F realized by deploying Blackbaud CRM. The study found that USNA AA&F experienced the risk-adjusted ROI, benefits, and costs shown below.

 

With Blackbaud CRM, USNA AA&F achieved the following results:

$4.7 million fundraising increase attributable to Blackbaud CRM. Among the multiple process improvements, including configuring the system to work the way they needed, gaining increased visibility into constituent data, and the ability to automate data clean up helped the team achieve this lift in funds raised.

$647,000 of labor costs avoided due to automation and increased reporting capabilities. The organization simplified its formerly time consuming processes through increased efficiencies.

$593,000 of maintenance and custom application costs avoided. The organization decommissioned its legacy fundraising management system.

By leveraging Blackbaud Target Analytics®, USNA AA&F is now conducting faster and higher quality analysis on donors and prospects that is informing their solicitation strategies. With cleaner data, their annual giving team and major gift officers can more accurately determine who they should be targeting and for which specific asks.

The integration with Blackbaud Internet Solutions has been instrumental in the success USNA AA&F has achieved. The team is now able to automate quarterly reports and have increased the visibility and detail of donor communications records.
