Pancreatic Cancer Canada Grows Fundraising by 229% with Luminate Online Marketing™ and Go!™

Pancreatic Cancer Canada (PCC) is committed to creating hope and improving pancreatic cancer survival through awareness, education, patient support, and research. They focus on raising awareness and advocating for increased funding; providing support and resources to patients and their families; and supporting research into early detection, effective treatment options, and ultimately, finding a cure for pancreatic cancer.

They are Canada’s only national volunteer-driven foundation dedicated to raising money and awareness for this deadly disease. Since their founding in 2006, they have invested more than two million dollars into research that focuses on discovering new and better ways to diagnose and treat pancreatic cancer and improve the quality of life of people living with this disease.

Challenge

  • Pancreatic Cancer Canada started out with a lackluster website and a very small housefile, and knew they needed to invest in their online presence to achieve their marketing, fundraising, and mission-focused goals.
  • The organization had a small, volunteer-only staff and needed to learn about tools that would help them make the most of their investment.
  • With a small staff, PCC knew they had to execute a strategy of taking on the right tools at the right time — making sure the outcome would delight their supporters without overwhelming their staff.

Solution

  • PCC began with Luminate Online Marketing, starting with a complete website redesign and incorporating the Go! program’s best practices for optimal list growth and website donor conversion. Even with a very small staff of volunteers, they quickly learned how to manage their new website in Pagebuilder.
  • They put extra effort into training and experimenting with the tools, which really paid off. They also took things in steps: first, they redesigned their website, then they mastered Luminate Online Marketing, before finally adding more sophisticated tools such as Personal Fundraising and TeamRaiser™.
  • PCC also focused on a communication strategy. Through the Go! program, they ran a successful housefile building campaign and a well-executed end-of-year fundraising campaign, both contributing to overall list growth of around 66% in the first year and fundraising that was far above average for a client of their size.

Results

  • After completion of the Go! program, PCC continued to grow in every aspect. Their list has since grown another 20% but the even more impressive growth is in fundraising.
  • Like many organizations committed to combating disease and disorder, PCC’s donors make many gifts in memory or honor of someone affected by the disease. Knowing this, the organization made the wise decision to add Personal Fundraising and TeamRaiser tools to their Luminate Online Marketing suite.
  • They built out the giving section of their website to include these options and their 2011-2012 fundraising increased 229%.
