Angel Foundation Relies on The Raiser's Edge(i) to Help Manage Fundraising On and Offline

Angel Foundation was founded to care for the needs of cancer patients throughout treatment and recovery processes. They provide financial assistance, educational information, and patient and survivor activities for “improving the quality of life throughout the cancer experience.”


  • Angel Foundation was previously using spreadsheets to track donors, volunteers, and employees that had no segmenting capabilities and could only track limited information. The only giving history records the staff members had were through their financial management system and these were not segmented by campaign or initiative.
  • Staff members at the Foundation wanted to be able to track their constituent’s gifts and build comprehensive giving records in order to better target donors during campaigns. Also, because the Foundation is an event-focused organization, they wanted to be able to segment their donor base by gift likelihood to invite the correct group to each event.
  • Additionally, the website was dated and cumbersome to use. Without a large marketing staff, the Foundation needed a solution that would allow staff to easily engage constituents by email and process donations online.

  • The robust database allows the Foundation to track donors, construct giving histories from past information, and record new constituents going forward.

  • Since implementing The Raiser’s Edge(i), Angel Foundation has already seen a return on investment. Staff members have been able to prepare for their annual gala event more efficiently than ever. Rather than sending a formal invitation to each donor, volunteer, and employee with contact information, the Foundation segmented the donor base by previous gift amount and sent out targeted invitations to donors who had given gifts over a certain level and were likely to give again and attend.
  • The development staff enjoys how easy it is to engage the donor base through customized email blasts rather than costly direct mail. The system is intuitive and easy to use, even for those who do not have much experience with websites. Development staff are also happy with their ability to accept donations online.
