Chatham Hall Increases Online Giving and Event Registration and Saves Time with Blackbaud NetCommunity Spark

Challenge

Chatham Hall was using an online donation and registration form that did not match the school’s branding.

When donors or registrants went to the page it was evident that they had left the organization’s website.

The school was also looking for a new credit card processing tool. Its existing solution had varying fees for each credit card type and the business office could not easily determine which fees were from which department.

The school also wanted to provide a full alumni directory. Its current directory only included those that registered via the school’s website.

Solution

Chatham Hall switched to NetCommunity Spark for online donations and registrations. With NetCommunity Spark the payment pages have the same look as the website and gives donors and registrants confidence that they are giving to the school.

Additionally, with NetCommunity Spark, data is seamlessly entered into The Raiser’s Edge with the click of a mouse.

The school also selected Blackbaud Merchant Services because it provides a flat rate fee for all credit card types.

Finally, in order to access vital information while on the road and reduce the amount of IT time and costs associated with maintaining the software, Chatham Hall moved to Blackbaud Application Hosting.

Results

With Blackbaud Merchant Services OneRATE, the school will save approximately $2,000 in transactions fees for FY 2011-2012.

The email capability in NetCommunity Spark has enabled the school to send donation solicitations to its constituency. With its previous email provider, the process was cumbersome and would require some manual data entry. Now, email actions are seamlessly recorded in The Raiser’s Edge.

The school’s online alumni directory is now a comprehensive directory enabling alumni to find and connect with one another.

Online event registrations for Parents Weekend increased to 33 percent with NetCommunity Spark up from 16 percent with the previous solution.

In fiscal year 2010-2011, 165 online gifts were received after the implementation of NetCommunity Spark with only 30 online gifts accepted with its previous solution during the year. Fourteen percent of all donations in fiscal year 2010-2011 were received online, up from 10 percent the previous year.
